1882 bronze with green patinabronze with green patina 14 w x 16½ d x 25 h in (36 x 42 x 63 cm)
Cast c.
1920. Signed 'A. Rodin' and impressed foundry marks 'Alexis Rudier Foundeur Paris.'
Rodin revolutionized sculpture at the end the 19th century, and created works that inspired criticism and false accusations of casting his works from live models. During his lifetime, Rodin's work was produced in select foundries including the Alexis Rudier Foundry in Paris, producing the artist's work from 1875 through Rodin's death in 1917. Posthumous casts were condoned by Rodin and created with the Alexis Rudier foundry mark from 1917 until 1952, at which point the foundry was handed to George Rudier, son of Alexis Rudier. This fine collection of posthumous Rodin bronzes offer the collector a rare opportunity to acquire significant works from the master sculptor. more
