CCA USA, 1971 painted cardboard 8 w x 6 d x 3½ h in (20 x 15 x 9 cm)
These maquette's were created as part of an unusual project that paired artists with corporations that could assist them with artistic production;
Tony Smith was paired with the Container Corporation of America. These maquettes of Smith's large-scale installations display his interest in complex visualizations of three-dimensional, geometric forms. These electric-colored modules illustrate an immediacy and labor that make apparent Smith's famous description of his sculpture being at the edge of dreams. Signed in ink to side. more
