Late 19th century, circa 1880. Chinoserie decorated circular two tiered hand painted lacquered étagère or stand with figural, animal and floral decoration on black ground with gilt accents. Top tier with plumed peacock perched on tree form at right with red flowers on branches overhead. Lower round tier with figural decoration of two active running figures on a hand fan with butterfly and pink flower and leaf decoration. Tiers with scrolled foliate open work raised rims connecting to three turned legs terminating in wheeled casters. Unmarked. Height 27.5 inches. Diameter 17 inches. According to the consignor purchased from Tom Haynes, Atlanta, Georgia in December of 1991. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia.
