Constantine "Gus" Kermes Woodblock Prints, Pair Pair of woodblock prints by Constantine "Gus" Kermes (American, 1923-2009); the larger one depicts a woman carrying a bucket, has an artist bio verso, is pencil signed and dated to bottom right "Kermes 74", marked to bottom left "Demo/Proof", and measures approximately 15-1/4" x 11" with frame and has a sight image of approximately 11" x 3-1/2"; the smaller one depicts a bearded man, has a Kermes tag verso, measures approximately 9" x 7" with frame and has a sight image of approximately 5" x 3-1/4". Constantine "Gus" Kermes was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1923. He lived, worked and passed away in Lancaster, PA in 2009. His work is considered to be expressive of the rural patterns of America, and of religious groups which consider work as a part of their creeds.
