William Palmer Robins (British, 1882-1959); etching on paper depicting Canterbury Cathedral; pencil signed "W.P. Robins" in bottom right corner; measures approximately 11-1/4" x 16" with frame and has a sight image of approximately 6-3/4" x 9-1/2"; has some light staining on matting. Robins created about 280 etchings, aquatints and lithographs. He was the author of "Etching Craft" (1922). After deciding that architecture was not for him he studied under Lee-Hankey at Goldsmiths' College concentrating on aquatint. He attended The Royal College of Art where Frank Short encouraged him to work with drypoint. Guichard describes him as one of the best British etchers.
