Serge Nekrassoff copper bowl with copper handles that flow into applied pewter floral accents; stamped to bottom "Nekrassoff"; measures approximately 2" tall and 12-3/4" in diameter from handle to handle. Serge S. Nekrassoff (1895-1985) was a Russian-American metalsmith. Some of Nekrassoff's work involves very complex shaping, all done by hand. He began his coppersmithing career by doing very simple work -- hammering shallow trays. Soon he acquired what he calls the "feel" of the metal. To break the monotony of his work, he tried new techniques, eventually acquiring the intricate skill and flair that epitomizes his works today.
