Reinhold Merkelbach bas-relief stein; mold no. 938; German, circa late 19th century; depicts a gentleman holding a stein flanked by cottages to the left and right all against a cobalt background with touches of burgundy and cream and acanthus accents throughout; features a pewter lid with the words "Froh Beim Bier Das Lob Ich Mir" (which roughly translates to "Happiness from Beer, this I praise") encircling the the middle and a figural and acanthus thumblift; marked to bottom with the RM logo as well as "Geschlitzt" and "938"; measures approximately 9-3/4" tall to top of finial and 3" in diameter to opening; in Very Good condition with no noticeable chips or cracks.
