ROOKWOOD Two vases: Decorated Mat painted by Kataro Shirayamadani with hollyhocks in pink and ivory against a pale purple ground, 1938, and Vellum by Lenore Asbury with chains of pink flowers and berries on a bright yellow to pink ground, 1920. (Exhibited in "American Arts & Crafts from the Collection of Alexandra and Sidney Sheldon," Palm Springs Desert Museum, California, and illustrated in accompanying catalog by Katherine Plake Hough, 1993, nos. 138 and 128.) Smaller X"d for glaze scaling, larger with post-factory drill hole through bottom. Flame marks/artist"s initials. 10 1/2" and 4 1/2"
