His childhood days were spent browsing his fatherís books on Japanese and Chinese art and enjoying family outings to the zoo at the Jardin des Plantes, where he spent hours observing and drawing the flora and fauna. Suisse studied the art of lacquering at the Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs and went on to have a successful career in decorative arts and design. He exhibited at numerous salons such as the 1926 Salon díAutomne, won gold medals for his lacquer creations at the 1931 International Colonial Exhibition and the 1937 International Exhibition of the Arts and Techniques, and designed furniture, decorative panels, and objects for Brandt, R
