Robert-Houdin, Emile (1831 – 1883). E. Robert-Houdin Mantle Clock. French, third or fourth quarter nineteenth century. Enameled iron with marble trim, brass cherub among foliage at top. White Roman numeral face, hinged plate glass at front and rear. 17 x 10 x 5 ”. Stamped “E. Robert-Houdin” and numbered 1148 on movement and pendulum. With key. Working. Marble chipped in one corner near base. Son of the famous father of modern magic (with whom he performed in his youth), Emile became a master clockmaker in his own right.
