Francisco (Arthur F. Bull). Francisco Spook Show Assistant’s Costume. American, 1940s. Red bellhop-style jacket and pants worn by one of the male assistants on Francisco’s Ghost Show, which toured the western United States in the 1940s. Red coat bears embroidered “F” logo; black pants bear red stripe down the length of the legs. Very good. Arthur Francisco Bull was born in San Francisco in 1885. He was named by his father after the city of his birth and used his middle name professionally as a magician. His first Francisco’s Midnite Spook Frolic was so successful that he concentrated on that field for nineteen years. Among his youthful assistants were Sid Fleischman and Pete Biro. Francisco died June 3, 1964 at the age of 79.
