Eclipse Transformation Playing Cards. F.H. Lowerre, 1876. 52 + J Fair. First American transformation deck. Soiled and well used. Transformation decks date to the early 19th Century and are much sought after by collectors because of their artistic merit and rarity. They are called transformation decks because the pips - suit symbols - are transformed into an artistic design for every card. In some packs, each suit of thirteen cards tells a simple story.
