Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey/Pawah. Cincinnati: Strobridge Litho, 1927. One-sheet (27 ¾ x 42.”) poster showing “The World Famous White Elephant, Pawah” disembarking at New York after traveling from Burma, with natives prostrating themselves in front of the animal. The hyperbole present, which calls Pawah the ”First and Only Genuine Sacred White Elephant Ever Permitted to Leave his Native Land,” bears some truth, as the albino elephant spent only one year in the United States before being transported back to Burma. Insignificant tears at top border. Linen mounted. A-. Scarce.
