Edwin Brush/Lightner the Wizard Theatrical Trunk. Massive metal-bound trunk measuring 37 x 22 x 26", and containing a portion of the show of Chautauqua and Lyceum magician Edwin Brush. Contents include a brass Willmann/Okito canary cage (fair condition), large basket for Yettmah's Birds from Nowhere effect, elaborate wire and cloth masks, sections of a cabinet and two matching Asian robes/costumes for an exchange illusion (possibly Brush's Rip Van Winkle illusion), production articles, and much more. Painted deep red with faded white lettering stenciled on its exterior reading "Brush The Great." After Brush, the trunk was acquired by magician Joe Lightner, then magic collector Richard McKinney, and finally Jay Marshall. A unique, impressive and historically significant piece of magicana from the era of Chautauquas and Lyceums that were at one time national institutions. Condition of contents varies from poor to very good, trunk considerably worn from years of use, as expected. SHOULD BE SEEN.
