Burlingame, Charles. Four woodworking hand tools used by the mechanics of Chas. Burlingame's magic shop. Including three small planers and one large vise. Two tools bear labels stating their provenance and having been used by a Mr. Shubert, who worked for Burlingame. Ca. 1890s. Good condition. Burlingame's magic shop opened in Chicago in the 1880s. He later operated under the name Ralph E. Sylvestre, specializing in the manufacture and sale of "spiritualistic effects." For a time, Burlingame performed under the stage name of Jasper Bamberg.
