[Thurston Mask] Polychrome Chinese mask formerly property of Howard Thurston. A curious association item, being a life size garish mask resembling the face of a demon or devil, decorated in red paint with glass eyes. 7 x 12". Fragile and significantly chipped, cracked and worn with one ear loose; in need of restoration. A tattered note in Jay Marshall's hand attached to the rear of the mask states, "Gift Howard Thurston to Elmer (Doc) Wilson to Adam Hoozinski to Jay Marshall." With: a photograph of the mask on display in Magic, Inc.'s theatre, where it was displayed for decades with much of Jay Marshall's collection.
