The Candle That Was (Vanishing Candle). Los Angeles, F.G. Thayer, ca. 1930. The magician wraps a burning candle in newspaper. Its wick can be seen at the top of the paper, still burning. Yet when the paper is crushed, the candle has vanished. Turned wooden candle, gimmick and candlestick in the Thayer tradition. Overall height of 15 ¾". Very good condition.
