[Ephemera] Hoffmann, Professor (Angelo John Lewis). Program for Professor Hoffmann's "Magic and Mystery." London, December 2nd, 1881. Bi-fold two-color program lists the Professor's repertoire in two parts. The first includes tricks: "The Obedient Cards," "The Shower of Gold," "The Old Oak Chest," and others. The second part is an exhibition of the Professor's collection of Animated Wax Figures ("boiled down and cast afresh since their last appearance."). Light wear, otherwise very good condition. Rare. Hoffmann is assisted in his exhibition of wax figures by no less than eleven assistants, including Geo. F. Swainson, listed on the program as the "Wind-uppist." The front page of the program states that a "new door-mat has been added" to the hall expressly for Hoffmann's performance.
