Dissecting Drawer Box. After Martinka & Co., ca. 1870. Impressive and large drawer box finely crafted from wood. The magician shows its interior empty, yet upon reopening the drawer, it is seen to be full. After emptying the drawer, the magician again produces a large quantity of spring flowers from it. Finally, the box is disassembled entirely, showing it to be apparently free from trickery. Finely veneered in burled walnut, and accented with brass fittings and inlays. Significant wear, chips and cracks to finish; fair but workable condition. Regardless, a magnificent example of exquisitely crafted Victorian apparatus that is seldom encountered.
