Pair of Grecian-style painted rush seat side chairs, ca. 1830 , probably Philadelphia, retaining their original vibrant red and black faux rosewood surface with gilt highlights, stylized shell splats, and turned legs joined by stretchers, 32" h. A very similar chair is illustrated in Montgomery American Furniture, The Federal Period , plate 466.
