Italian, first half 20th century. A diminutive Rococo parcel gilt and Vernis Martin black lacquered and chinoiserie decorated bureau, slant or fall front desk having a shaped top above a slant front hinged fall opening to an interior with central open pigeon hole flanked to each side by a pair of foliate painted small drawers, over a pair of reverse serpentine long drawers on cabriole legs united by a serpentine scrolling apron. The whole with chinoiserie decoration depicting figures and insects amidst stylized landscapes. Stencil mark on the back 'Made in Italy". Approximate height 36", width 36", depth 13".
