Continental School, late 19th century. "Portrait of Nun", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Formal portrait painting depicting a nun standing at bust length wearing a traditional hooded habit and holding a serene expression on her porcelain face, the figure clutching rosary beads in right hand at her waist, and flanked to right by shelves of red leather bound books, the setting likely a parish library. Framed approximately 35" x 29.5". Unframed approximately 32.75" x 26.25".
