American, circa 1918. Cutler roll top walnut desk with roll top opening to an interior fitted with 10 small drawers, four document drawers, prospect door with locking mechanism with key and 8 open shelves, the case with a pull out slide to each side centered with a single drawer with mounted Cutler Desk Co brass plate to the interior, one bank with two drawers the other with three drawers, on square tapered legs terminating in brass caps. Height 45", width 72", depth 38". In 1850, Abner Cutler, of the Cutler Desk Co. in Buffalo, New York, was the first American to patent the roll top desk that we know today. The curved tambour top became his standard and it has become a classic style that has endured for more than 150 years. _x000D_
