English, late 18th/ early 19th century. A tole peinte tray of scalloped rectilinear form painted with an Orientalist bird motif depicting two green and orange birds to center field standing on a flowering stem, one leaning forward from its perch toward fallen fruit on ground, the flaring shaped tray edge with a band of peony blossoms on leafy vines, the whole with cream colored background adorned with decoration in greens, yellow, oranges, and black. Unmarked. Approximately 19.5" x 25.5". Provenance: acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
