Alexander Girard for Herman Miller (American (New York, New York),1907-1993), circa 1975. A scarce pair of fiberglass shell (probably Greige Fiberglass) side chairs upholstered in Alexander Girard orange naugahyde, decorated with a stitched crisscross design forming an "x" between the back and the seat, the back and edges of sides having brown naugahyde trim, raised on aluminum base with four-point swivel base and plastic disc shaped caps. Label underneath seat on one chair reads 'Herman Miller Inc./Zeeland, Michigan/Gardena, California', along with label with patent date stamps, label inspected by Jim Jackson, molded impressed into shell 'Herman Miller' and also stamped with the date "Sept. 10, 1975". The other chair with patent label and 'Do Not Remove Label' (taped on). Chair also has molded impressed into the shell "Herman Miller' along with numbers '820109". Approximate height 32", width 18.5", seat depth 14.5", seat height 17.25". Approximate height 31.75", width 18,5", seat depth 13.75", seat height 17.25"
