French, 19th century. Provincial or French country fruitwood ladies secretary desk or bonheur de jour with shaped and slanted hinged top with shell ormolu escutcheon at center that opens to reveal dark green leather inset writing surface with gilt and tooled border, storage niche shelves and four small pull out drawers. Apron with three shaped short pull out drawers, center drawer with drop bail handle, flanked by drawers with rosette round knob pulls, overall supported on thin cabriole legs. Overall approximate height 35.8", width 27.6", depth 17.125".
