Shaker Butternut Trustees Chest of Ten Drawers, Enfield, Connecticut, 19th century, molded top on a case of two narrow dovetailed drawers over eight wide dovetailed drawers with turned walnut pulls, the top seven drawers with ivory diamond keyhole escutcheons, the right side left unfinished as a built-in piece, ht. 71 3/4, wd. 33, dp. 22 1/2 in. Provenance: Hazel Hayes, Somers, Connecticut, 1969. Note: The chest was a built-in piece in the trustee's house at the Enfield Shaker community. It was recovered from the house after a fire.
