Sold for:
$1,500

Maple and Pine Comb-back Windsor Armchair, c. 1790, with serpentine cresting and scroll-carved terminals, knuckle handholds, carved saddle seat, and splayed vase- and ring-turned legs, refinished, ht. 42, seat ht. 17 in. Estimate $800-1,200 legs appear to end abruptly but may look that way because they don't taper, but the seat is 16 1/2 inches high, and there is 2 1/2 inches of foot below where the stretchers join the legs.
