John Cole Oak Tall Clock, England, mid-18th century, roman numeral brass dial with raised gilt floral decoration, engraved mark "Iohn Cole Barnstaple," stepped bonnet with carved stylized floral decoration, full-length waist door, stepped base set on bracket feet, ht. 77, base 11 3/4 x 9 3/4 in. N.B. John Cole, clockmaker, is listed in the Barnstaple Parish Register for 1757. Provenance: The estate of George Way. Estimate $800-1,200 The mechanism is not garunteed to be in working order.
