Attributed to Pieter Hermansz. Verelst (Dutch, c. 1618-c. 1668) Portrait of Anna de Hooghe (1645-1717) Inscribed "N. Maes" l.l. Oil on canvas, 31 x 26 3/8 in. (79.0 x 67.0 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, retouch, small tear u.c. just above the sitter's head, fine craquelure, varnish discoloration, minor surface grime. N.B. This portrait is recorded in the archives of the RKD (Netherlands Institute for Art History) as having formerly been attributed to Nicholaes Maes and bearing a false signature. Provenance: The estate of George Way. Estimate $300-500 Framed dimensions are 38 3/4 x 34 1/4 x 3 1/4 in. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
