Carl Oscar Borg (Swedish/American, 1879-1947) Canyon de Chelly, Arizona, c. 1925. Signed "CARL OSCAR BORG" l.r. Watercolor and pencil on paper, sight size 7 x 8 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. N.B. Borg was a Swedish-born painter who settled in the United States and became well known for views of California, Arizona, and New Mexico. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, the National Academy of Arts, Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Salmagundi Club. His work is exhibited in numerous major public institutions including the Smithsonian. He visited Canyon de Chelly a number of times during his career and these works are some of his best and the most sought after.
