Gold Maki-e Sakazuki Wine Cup, Japan, 19th century, footed round low bowl form, decorated with a blooming chrysanthemum flower with detailed petals in hiramaki-e, unsigned, with an original box with an inscription and "S. Hayashi" sticker, ht. 2 1/4, dia. 5 7/8 in. Estimate $300-500 spotty lifting and cracking of the lacquer, minor gilt loss around rim, minor stain to the exterior.
