Windsor Braced Fan-back Armchair, probably Nantucket, late 18th century, with narrow fan back, pronounced knuckle-carved handholds, carved circular seat with shaped tab where two spindles terminate, with vase and ring turnings throughout, ht. 44, seat 17 1/2 in. Estimate $800-1,200 The chair has been refinished. There is evidence of red paint/wash on the underside of the seat. The "tab" on the back of the seat where the braces connect to the seat has a glued repair, but is solid. The chair has a little looseness due to age but is structurally sound.
