Manner of Pierre-Jules Mêne (French, 1810-1879) Monumental Standing Horse. Inscribed "P.J. Mene" on the left rear hoof. Bronze with dark brown patina, height 43 1/2 in. Condition: Dust, dirt, and some accretions to the interstices, a thin band of discoloration to the patina over the horse's back, minor wear to the patina. Estimate $1,200-1,800 No visible foundry mark. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
