New Haven Arms Volcanic Carbine, c. 1857-60, .41 caliber, serial number 89 on frame, walnut stock marked "192" under butt plate tang and tang marked "192," upper frame screws marked "192," brass frame in front of the lever marked "4," brass frame with factory engraving, octagonal barrel marked on the top flat "NEW HAVEN CONN. PATENT FEB. 14, 1854," barrel lg. 21 in. Provenance: An old Connecticut collection. Estimate $8,000-12,000 Stock has a few dings and nicks and a small sliver of wood glued in near the receiver, sight is a replacement, missing the magazine follower, some spotty blueing left on the barrel and magazine, bore is bright and fairly sharp, and the action functions properly.
