Cased Whitney Third Type Pocket Revolver Identified to General John A. Logan, c. 1850s-60s, .31 caliber, walnut grips, steel frame with backstrap engraved "to General J.A. Logan/from his Wife April 16, 1862" with foliate designs, cylinder has light scene remaining, barrel retains some blue and marked "E. WHITNEY/N. HAVEN," japanned tin case with ball mold, powder flask, a few handmade tools, caps and ball, and a carte-de-visite of Logan, barrel lg. 4 in. Note: Presented to General Logan when he was promoted to Brigadier General for gallantry at Fort Donelson. Estimate $800-1,200 Gun functions properly although the cylinder slips off the stop on full cock from time to time, some light pitting on the cylinder near the nipples, barrel retains about 30% blue, tin case is in overall good condition.
