Patriotic Bowie Knife, c. mid-19th century, German silver grip with eagle and shield and raised foliate designs, ricasso marked "I*XL," the blade marked "G. WOSTENHOLM & SON/WASHINGTON WORKS/SHEFFIELD" and "THE REAL I*XL KNIFE/THE HUNTERS COMPANION"; with a leather scabbard with a German silver throat and belt hook, blade lg. 8, overall lg. 12 7/8 in. Provenance: The collection of Ron Tunison. Estimate $800-1,200 Grip is in very good condition with some light patination, the guard has a small bend, the blade is good with some light spotting, and the scabbard shows some wear and is missing the tip.
