Four Arthur J. Stone (1847-1938) Sterling Silver Serving Pieces, Gardner, Massachusetts, early 20th century, spoon and fork salad serving set, handles with pierced floral decoration, lg. 9, a serving spoon, monogramed "A.T.P.," lg. 9 1/2, a gravy ladle, lg. 5 1/2 in., all with hammer maker's mark and "B" for Charles W. Brown, approx. 10 troy oz. Note: Stone was born, trained, and worked in Sheffield, England, and Edinburgh, Scotland, before traveling to the United States in 1884. In 1901, Stone set up his workshop in Gardner, which operated under his name until its sale in 1937. Following the Arts and Crafts tradition, he was one of the last master silversmiths in America to train apprentices to carry out designs in hand-wrought silver.
