Queen Anne Maple and Walnut Veneer High Chest of Drawers, Massachusetts, c. 1730-50, the flat-molded cornice with drawer above a case of nine thumb-molded drawers with herringbone-inlaid borders and matched walnut panels, all on cabriole legs ending in pad feet joined by a cockbeaded apron, replaced brasses, refinished, ht. 66 1/2, wd. 37, dp. 21 in. Note: The back of the case is painted "Byron Brooks Weymouth Nova Sco(tia?)." Estimate $4,000-6,000 The high chest is in excellent condition. It has been refinished and the brasses have been replaced. if you look closely you can see shadows of previous brasses and small filled holes where the posts were. All of this is not very evident. There is the expected veneer shrinkage with the resulting cracks, again no big deal. this is a very attractive piece of fine quality. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging. Any condition statement given, as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact.
