Pierre Jacques Duret (French, 1729-c. 1795), After Aert van der Neer (Dutch, 1603-1677) Fishing Vessels by the Shore. Signed "van der Neer pinx.'" and "P Duret sculp." in the plate l.l. and l.r., respectively, identified and inscribed in ink "George H. Way Collection/Staten Island/N.Y." on the reverse, and with an illegible collector's stamp in blue on the reverse. Engraving on paper, sheet size 10 3/8 x 13 1/4 in., framed. Condition: Trimmed inside the plate mark, small tear to u.r. margin that extends into the edge of the image, minor tears to lower margin stabilized with cellophane tape on the reverse, other minor nicks to the margin, minor staining, old mounting remnants to the reverse. Provenance: The estate of George Way, Staten Island, New York. Estimate $50-100 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
