John Wood Figured Walnut Tall Clock, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1750, carved blind fretwork and stepped molded sarcophagus top above the hinged hood door, engaged half-columns flanking the composite brass dial, silvered chapter ring with quarter, half, and half-quarter markings, matted center, recessed date, applied silvered seconds, and ringed winding holes, engraved name boss reading "John Wood Philada," tombstone-shaped full-length figured walnut waist door, split figured veneered base, terminating on simple bracket feet, eight-day time and hour-strike movement, regulated by a two-part pendulum and two cast iron weights, ht. 103 in. Estimate $4,000-6,000 sarcophagus portion rebuilt, feet old replacements. Movement complete but was not running when picked up from house. We recommend all movements get cleaned and lubricated.
