Benton Murdoch Spruance (American, 1904-1967), "Death of the Minotaur"-1953, five color lithograph on wove paper, pencil signed and dated lower right margin, titled in pencil lower center margin, noted as from a limited edition of 35 lower left margin. Modern print depicting a Greek mythological horned minotaur (part man, part bull) being stabbed in the chest by a knife held in the hand of the Athenian victor Theseus portrayed wounded, nude, wearing a yellow helmet and leaning against a cave wall, likely the Labyrinth in which the Minotaur was fabled to have as his home. Framed approximately 30.75" x 25.75". Sight size approximately 20" x 15.5". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia.
