James Yarbrough (American (Georgia), contemporary). "Cocktail Party", etching on wove paper, one pencil signed lower right and the others pencil monogrammed lower right. Figural etching in four sequential panels depicting a domestic cocktail part set in a well decorated home and juxtaposing formally dressed figures with those in casual dress, some nude and some with grotesque faces and oversized heads, with further complication to the scene formed by a group of upside down figures to the upper portion of the scene, some of them with reversed positioned heads, the whole seeming to be a commentary on the pretense of everyday social scenarios. Overall framed approximately 28.25" x 48.25". Each panel sight size approximately 20.25" x 8.25".
