Brown-painted Octagonal-top Cross-base Candlestand, New England, early 18th century, on a bulbous turned post and shaped feet, (imperfections), ht. 24 1/4, wd. 12 1/2, dp. 13 in. Provenance: Skinner, The Collection of Mary Wells, April 1982. Estimate $800-1,200 crack in top with renailing, surface scraped down to reveal original brown (vestiges of green/gray paint remain), some renailing and re-fixing of post, to strengthen overall structure, thin platform added to one foot to even feet out and make stand sit flat.
