Set of Four Queen Anne Chairs, Massachusetts, c. 1740-60, with spooned crest rails, vasiform splats, compass slip seats, cabriole front legs, raking chamfered rear legs, and block-, vase-, and ring-turned stretchers, ht. 41 1/2, seat ht. 18 1/2 in. Provenance: John Walton, 1975. Estimate $4,000-6,000 the chairs may have had platforms below the pads, which are now mostly worn away. There is evidence of old stable insect damage (not structurally significant) to legs, feet, stretchers, and to a lesser extent the seat rails and knee returns, with one small assocaited patch to one rear leg. Some replaced knee returns. All four seat frames are replacements. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
