Judith Brown (American, 1932-1992) Duo Flight. Identified and dated "...c. 1975" in ink on the underside of the plinth, inscribed "...in exhibition at Fred Walkey Gallery in Concord approx. 1980?" on a handwritten label affixed to the underside of the plinth. Painted white metal, possibly steel, height 21 3/4 in., on a black wood plinth. Condition: Areas of surface wear, dust and dirt to interstices. Provenance: Estate of Brigitte Graneau, Concord, Massachusetts. N.B. Dancer and sculptor Judith Brown embraced the subject of bodies and drapery in motion, employing traditional media such as bronze but also crushed auto scrap metal to create her work. The sculpture at hand catches the movement of two ascending figures. Estimate $400-600 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
