Folio, first illustrated edition of Plutarch's Lives, printed with this series of seventy-eight woodcut text illustrations, title page printed in red and black with Sessa's large woodcut cat-and-mouse printer's device, printed in roman type in a single column throughout, bound in full modern blind-tooled calf, likely done by Fred Shihadeh, expert paper repairs to title, significant neat contemporary marginalia in the chapter on Hannibal, to a lesser degree in the sections on Pompeii, Demosthenes, and Cato, and scattered elsewhere, 12 1/4 x 8 1/4 in.
