Wollstonecraft, Mary (1759-1797) A Vindication of the Rights of Woman: with Strictures on Political and Moral Subjects, Georgina Brackenbury's (1865-1949) Copy. London: for J. Johnson, 1796. Third edition, octavo, volume one (all published), a2, b8, B-Z8, Aa-Ff8, Gg2; in later half green morocco, inscribed, "Brackenbury, 2 Campden Hill Sq. W" on ffep, 8 x 5 in. [together with] a small group of Brackenburiana, including a signed photo postcard portrait; six postcards addressed to Brackenbury; a letter to her father; a copy of A Short History of Campden Hill Square, by Ridgway, with the Brackenbury name inscribed on the front cover; [and] a large black-and-white photograph of Ruskin with an inscription saying that it was presented by Ruskin to General Charles Brackenbury c. 1888. Brackenbury was a British portrait artist and militant feminist. She, her sister, and mother all belonged to the Women's Social and Political Union in the early 20th century, and all were jailed for acts of political disobedience in an effort to secure equal voting and human rights for women.
