Rex Jesse Ashlock (American, 1918-1999) Two Grisaille Paintings on Paper: Abstraction and Dark Abstraction. Abstraction dated and signed "3-62/Rex" l.l., titled and numbered "...28P" on the backing sheet; Dark Abstraction dated and signed "30 mar 62/Ashlock" u.l., titled and numbered "...17P" on the backing sheet. Gouache on paper, each 26 x 19 7/8 in., matted, unframed. Condition: Not examined out of mats. Estimate $20-200 The works are presented in a kind of mat, consisting of a matboard backing, clear plastic sheeting front, joined around the edges with making tape or similar. The works were probably originally lightly glued to the backing matboard. The plastic sheeting for "Abstraction" is detached along the left edge.
