Pál (Paul) Böhm (Hungarian, 1839-1905) Family at Rest by a Bridge and Stream Signed and inscribed "fert: Böhm Pál Munchen" l. l. Oil on partially cradled panel, 19 1/4 x 13 7/8 in. (49.0 x 35.3 cm), framed. Condition: A few fine vertical cracks to the upper half of the composition in the sky and trees with minor retouch, craquelure with areas of lifting along some of the cracks. Estimate $1,200-1,800 Indistict stamp with the word Munchen on the reverse. Also numbered "238" on a gummed label on the reverse. Framer's notation on a piece of masking tape on the reverse. There are two lines of craquelure in the sky, the longer measuring about 3 inches. There are also some small cracks in the center, the largest one measuring 1 1/2 inches. These lines show some minor flaking and lifting of the pigment. Framed dimensions are 26 3/4 x 21 3/4 x 1 3/4 in.,with a label from Buffalo Frame and Mirror Corporation on the frame backing paper.
